At CKS, we have been considering ourselves as part of an international community of learners.
The school was sent photographs and drawings of a primary school in Mainz, Western Germany. During a whole school worship, each class was able to submit a question that these pictures prompted. The questions showed that our enquiring minds are active and well as children were busy spotting similarities and differences between their own school experiences and those of our German friends. CKS children seemed very fascinated by the particularly large school bags the other school children were wearing!
We received replies to these questions quickly and our children were enthralled to learn that the big school bags are due to children needing to carry ALL of their school books and an average price for these bags is £230! We discovered that school children enjoy similar school trip destinations although their school days are much shorter. The impact of this area of our international learning is that CKS children are becoming increasingly aware of the similarities between themselves and learners in places using different languages, different school structures...and different school bags!
We look forward to our next stage of thoughtful correspondence.
