Term Dates
Teachers in state schools are required to undertake five Inset days in addition to the 190 teaching days children are required to be in school. The days are determined by the school in order to meet the training needs of the staff.
Term dates for 2026 - 2027 are:
Autumn Term 1 - Thursday 3rd September 2026 - Thursday 22nd October 2026
Autumn Half Term holiday - Monday 26th October 2026 - Friday 30th October 2026
Autumn Term 2 - Monday 2nd November 2026 - Friday 18th December 2026
Christmas holidays - Monday 21st December 2026 - Friday 1st January 2027
Spring Term 1 - Monday 4th January 2027 - Friday 12th February 2027
Spring Half Term holiday - Monday 15th February 2027 - Friday 19th February 2027
Spring Term 2 - Monday 22nd February 2027 - Thursday 25th March 2027
Easter holidays - Friday 26th March 2027 - Friday 9th April 2027
Summer Term 1 - Monday 12th April 2027 - Friday 28th May 2027 (note: Bank Holiday Monday 3rd May)
Summer Half Term holiday - Monday 31st May 2027 - Friday 4th June 2027
Summer Term 2 - Monday 7th June 2027 - Tuesday 20th July 2027

Key Statutory dates for 2026 - 2027
- Key stage 2 tests (Year 6)
The statutory key stage 2 tests are timetabled from Monday 10 May to Thursday 13 May 2027. - Multiplication tables check (Year 4)
Schools must administer the multiplication tables check within the 2-week period from Monday 7 June 2027. - Phonics screening check (Year 1 & Y2 resits-if required)
Schools must administer the phonics screening check within the 1-week period from Monday 14 June 2027.
