Vacancy for Administrative Assistant

Salary Details: Grade B (step subject to experience)Hours of Work: 19.5hrs/week to be worked Monday, Tuesday 8.30am – 4.30pm with 30mins for lunch, Wednesday 8.30am – 1pm, 40 weeks a year (term time plus one week)

Governing Body of Charles Kingsley’s CE Primary School are looking to appoint a committed, self-motivated individual to join our small, caring school office team. We would be looking for someone to start in January, but would consider a slightly later start for the right candidate. This will be a job share with our current Administrative Assistant.


As the first point of call for visitors and enquiries made to school, you will need to be cheerful, enthusiastic, positive and have the capacity to communicate effectively with staff, parents and children.


The main duties will include:

  • Daily administration including recording and reporting attendance, collection of payments

  • Responsibility for SIMS Managing an Reporting

  • Responsibility for the Pupil Admissions Process to the school

  • Responsibility for After School Club Administration

  • Responsibility for parent correspondence

  • Any other duties as they arise

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be committed to and enjoy working as part of a team

  • Have excellent administrative and organisational skills

  • Have good knowledge of administrative procedures and IT systems. An understanding of SIMS, Tucasi would be an advantage, but training would be provided by the school

  • Have a friendly, caring disposition; showing a genuine interest in education of young children and being empathetic to individual needs.

  • Have a good understanding of First Aid requirements : training will be provided

  • Be able to keep calm and positive in a busy office!
