  • Da Vinci return from Liddington

Fri 20 Oct 2023 Miss Armstrong

Da Vinci Class have returned tired but happy after a few days away at PGL Liddington. It rained a lot and there was so much mud, but that didn't stop them from trying every single activity! They climbed up (a few times); abseiled down; learned how to fence; played hide and seek in the dark and showed amazing teamwork! A lot of fun was had, and they can't wait to share their adventures with their families!

  • Goodbye to Mrs Henderson

    Fri 20 Oct 2023

Mrs Henderson and all the children (that are in the school) gathered to say an emotional goodbye. She has worked with love with so many children and families in the many years she has been part of the CKS staff. But her CKS journey stated when she was a pupil - she remembers Mrs Mills.  Her last day at CKS has been emotional but she has always and will always be part of the CKS family. She has touched many hearts. Thank you Donna for all you have done for the staff, pupils and families of CKS over the many years.

We all wish you the best with your new journey/challenge our love will be with you always x

  • CKS Festival Days

    Thu 19 Oct 2023

It is the end of the first half-term and that means it is CKS Festival time again. Seeing the children in their house colours working together and demonstrating the school sports values as well as the CKS values is a joy for all the staff.

Year 5 and 6 started the week off with their Hockey Festival at the Yateley Hockey Astro with Coach Tom, who has been running their sessions this half-term. It was bitterly cold but fun was had by all with some exceptional skills on show (and not just by the children who already play for Yateley - we hope YHC will be getting some more young members).

Year 3 and 4 had the best weather for their Netball Festival on Tuesday morning with Mrs Grundy, who has been leading their sessions this half-term - teaching the staff and children so much). The children smiled laughed and showed just how accurate their throwing could be when there was competition.  The highlight of the festival for staff was seeing the Year 3 and Year 4 working together as well as supporting and encouraging each other.

Year 1 and 2 had their Football festival in the showers of Thursday but they enjoyed every minute.  They showed true determination and focus as they earn points for their houses. There was one particular goal and face full of pride and joy that was the talk of the staffroom. This is what makes CKS Festival Days so special and memorable.

The points and willing house will be announced in Celebration Worship on Friday.

  • da Vinci's Residential trip to Liddington

    Wed 18 Oct 2023

We waved Year 6 off on their residential this morning.  The weather wasn't looking great but there was definitely a buzz of excitement.  A residential is all about the memories, teamwork, independence and achieving more than you thought possible.

They got straight into activities after a school trip packed lunch (there is nothing better).

The rest of the school look forward to hearing about the successes and fun, as well as how they dealt with the weather.

Keep an eye out on X (Twitter) for updates.

  • FOCKSA

    Wed 18 Oct 2023

The EGM for FOCKSA was held tonight in school and through MS Teams. A huge thank you to all those who attended, it showed just how important FOCKSA is to the CKS parents. With all the new committee members FOCKSA can go from strength to strength this year.  The saying 'many hands make light work' will lead to the success.  Thank you to Dianne and Carmen for continuing their roles as Chair and Treasurer and welcome to our new vice chairs and secretaries.

If you were unable to attend the meeting and would like to be a committee member please see the information in the newsletter or FOCKSA parent mails.

Thank you again to all last year's committee members and what you achieved for the CKS community.

  • Gauguin's Focus Assembly

Wed 18 Oct 2023 Mrs Price

    THE POWER OF A SMILE

This was the theme of the Year 4 Focus Assembly.  POWER has been their focus of the half-term and there has been so much to smile about so far in Year 4. The children's chosen 'Happy Tunes' were splattered throughout along with Bible verses and quotes.  The children wrote their scripts in their house teams - these included jokes, a poem, thoughtful reflections and acting. They performed to a packed hall of parents, siblings and grandparents, showing their confidence and pride in what they have produced.

My favourite part was the smiling photos of each class member (thank you to all the parents for this) shown to the song 'High Hopes' (one of the Happy Tunes).

They really showed the POWER OF A SMILE and everyone left with one on their face.

  • Lowry's trip to the FAST museum

Tue 17 Oct 2023 Miss Church

Year 1 Lowry Class enjoyed a memorable day visiting the FAST museum in Farnborough. We learnt all about Samuel Cody and even saw a replica of his plane! We enjoyed discovering more about the history of flight, developing our paper airplanes and eventually seeing who could fly theirs the furthest. One of our highlights was sitting in the cockpit of a helicopter; this let us imagine how it felt to fly one of these vehicles. Thank you to the adults who came with us and to the wonderful staff at the FAST Museum!

  • Harvest Festival

    Thu 12 Oct 2023

This morning we celebrated Harvest in a whole school collective worship.  It was lovely to welcome Rev. Faith and Rev. Rachel to join us and lead the worship with us.

As always the amount of donations for the food bank at St. Barnabas' was huge and so generous.  A huge thank you to all our CKS families.

  • Picture News for October

Fri 06 Oct 2023 Miss Armstrong

October is Black History Month here in the UK.  This year's theme is 'Saluting Our Sisters' - highlighting the role black women have played in shaping history, inspiring change and building communities in the UK.  Commemorations will feature black women who have made outstanding contributions to many areas, including music, literature, fashion, sport, business, politics and health care.

Things to talk about at home:

    • Share what you already know about Black History Month in the UK.
    • This year's theme is 'Saluting Our Sisters'.  What are some of the ways you think we can do this?
  • Well-being Wednesday

    Wed 04 Oct 2023

Our first Well-being Wednesday of the new school year. Year 2 explored Bluebell Woods. Year 6 and their Year R buddies did an Autumn walk. Many classes visited the pond and found lots of baby newts and dragonfly larvae.  The sun shone while Year 4 listened and danced to their happy tunes.

The smiles at the end of the day told the story - well-being Wednesday was good for us all.

As it is World Smile Day on Friday (a link to Monday's Collective Worship) there wasn't a better week for it.
