  • Y4's Trip to Hooke Court

Fri 29 Sep 2023 Mrs Price

What a wonderful few days Gauguin had away at Hooke Court.  The weather was mostly kind to us (a bit of a soggy Saxon saga around the campfire). We began the experience with a walk up hill into the forest for some orienteering and saving of lots of bright blue beetles.  After a delicious dinner, we explored the grounds of Hooke Court with torches as we completed a search and rescue for Steve.

After a relatively good night's sleep for most, a great breakfast set us up for Saxon Day. A full on day experiencing Saxon life, cooking, jewellery making, weaving, building and fighting.  Luckily the food that we cooked was delicious (we all thought the butter was the best) as we needed all our energy. As well as the Saxon saga around the campfire, we took part in a Saxon wedding (it is surprising just how many wedding traditions link back to Saxon times)

The second night's sleep was better for us all and we finished our Hooke Court experience with the best shelter building that Alan and the CKS staff had ever seen.

The trip away did everything it promised to and more.  Exhausted but happy we all returned home with stories and forever memories.

  • da Vinci’s Focus Assembly

Wed 27 Sep 2023 Miss Armstrong

Welcome to Ancient Greece!  Da Vinci Class took their parents and some of our pupils back in time to the days of old!  We travelled to Greece where we learned about philosophy, democracy and politics.  The children introduced us to the twelve Olympian gods and how the city of Athens came to be.  It was amazing how much knowledge they had to share after only a few  weeks at school.

  • Open Afternoon

    Wed 20 Sep 2023

Today was our first open afternoon of the school year. It was a huge success with a range of exciting activities for parents and children to explore together.  There was knowledge building, skill developing as well as creative hands on activities and thinking creatively.

It was lovely to see the different relationships and the sense of the whole school community learning together and celebrating successes.

  • Twilight Race for FOCKSA

    Sat 16 Sep 2023

Mrs Taylor, Miss Kent (and one of her friends), Miss Armstrong and Mrs Connelly ran the Twilight Race at Blackbushe Airport this evening to raise funds for FOCKSA.  They were joined along the way by other CKS pupils raising funds for FOCKSA too and a range of different charities.

They had a great time in the autumn sunshine and raised about £600 for FOCKSA.

Thank you to all that walked, ran, scooted, skated and cycled for FOCKSA and for those that sponsored through the just giving page.

  • Picture News Worship - Should lifejackets be compulsory for all on open water?

    Wed 13 Sep 2023

This week's focus was linked to the new law in Canada that all children under 12 years old must wear a lifejacket on a boat.

The children in Mrs Taylor's worship had lots of differing views.

What is your views on lifejackets for all?

Why not discuss it as a family!

  • BMX Workshop

    Tue 12 Sep 2023

We were lucky enough to BMX Academy in to work with Year 4 and 5, after Mike and his bike had done a whole school worship and BMX trick demo.

Mike talked about him developing a growth mindset and the importance of the word YET with the help of BMX bikes and tricks.  He then jumped over 4 members of staff.

All this was very inspiring for the children, especially year 4 and 5 who got to use these skills as they performed tricks on the BMX that they didn't think they could do.

Thank you so much Mrs Jary for organising this. 'It was epic!'

  • Picture News Worship - What can we learn from new adventures?

    Wed 06 Sep 2023

Our first picture news of the year was  shared by today.

Why not discuss the picture, question and topic with your family this week?

    Mon 04 Sep 2023

The school gates were opened this morning to a large group of excited CKS pupils by our new headteacher Mrs Popplewell.  She was welcomed with smiles and enthusiasm.

  • Y6 Coronation Pledge - Beach Clean

Fri 14 Jul 2023 Miss Armstrong

Y6 completed their Coronation pledge beach clean today. They picked up over 100kg of rubbish! A huge thank you to Bianca @FinalStrawCIO and also to Luke & Brian @RNLI_Portsmouth for inviting us to tour their lifeboat station.

  • Living God and reflecting Global Faith Worship

    Fri 14 Jul 2023

This Friday's worship was all about winning. The children and staff thought about their thoughts on winning and competing.  We thought about competing against others as well as ourselves.  The children were honest when they said they are sad or annoyed when they lose but usually when they have really worked hard on something.

We reflected on our talents, the uniqueness of us all and the winning plans that God has for us.
