  • Saying Goodbye to Mrs Charlton after 16 years at CKS

    Fri 31 Mar 2023

What a week that was! Lots of lasts for Mrs Charlton as she says goodbye to CKS to begin her new adventure.
She received her Heart of the Community award for everything she has done for the school, church and wider community during her time at CKS.

Parents and Pastries was a chance for each class to say goodbye to her while entertaining the parents before eating cakes.

The school came together for a special worship with a variety of special guests including a video all the way from Kenya as part of the Connecting Classrooms project. There were a few tears as the children spoke from the heart but the mood was boosted with a song reworded and sung my the staff.
More cakes at her final FGB with the Governors.

The final goodbye was with 3 cheers at the very wet end of the term and a chance for parents and children past and present to say goodbye.

We all wish the Charlton family all the best with their new beginning in the Lakes and all that it brings.

  • Heart of the Community celebration

    Tue 28 Mar 2023

The Spring Heart of the Community celebration took place today so that we could recognise the achievements of the children helping their community - inspired by Mrs Mills and what she did for the CKS community for so many years.

Those children that litter picked in the areas they live also reflected on the impact of litter and also the impact of them collecting and disposing of the litter.

Twins in year 3 organised an afternoon tea for residents of Pegasus Court in Farnborough, showing that the small things can bring so much joy to people in their community.

Many children recognised the importance of food banks and spend their time and some of their money providing food for those that need it.

Another HOC badge was presented to Mrs Charlton for all she has done for the local community since she has been at CKS.

Many STEP badges were also presented to year 4, 5 and 6.

  • Cassatt Class' wonderful trip to Little Forest Adventures

Mon 27 Mar 2023 Mrs Watson

This morning Cassatt Class had a wonderful trip to Little Forest Adventures to further explore our local area and environment. The children started off by meeting Liz who explained what would happen when we got to the camp, and how to keep ourselves safe. Each group then walked through the woods towards the camp and then got the opportunity to explore the many areas within the forest such as the mud kitchen, sand pit, bug hunting station, puppet show, craft and reading tent, swings and ropes. archery, den building and many more.

Each group took a turn to visit the campfire and choose a snack they would like to toast. Liz was there to help us and taught us how to keep safe when cooking on the fire.

We were so proud of the children and how carefully they listened to the instructions, respected the environment and engaged in all the activities, trying new things and fully embracing our morning in the woods. Liz and Gemma from Little Forest Adventures commented on how brilliant they had been, as did the minibus driver!

Once we were back at school the children were very excited to share their ideas about what learning they would like to do linked to our trip, and ideas for how we could change our own outdoor areas using some of the ideas we saw today.

Thanks to the parents who joined us on the trip and for all parents for making sure your children were kitted out for the trip today!
