  • Keeping the Faith

Fri 26 May 2023 Miss Armstrong

This week we continued linking our RESPECT values to ‘Environment’ and looking after the animals who live in God’s world.

We began the worship by looking at this quote from Revelation 4:11:

“You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honour and power,
    for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
        and have their being.”

We had a very animated discussion about our favourite animals and what makes them so special.  We learnt about the life of St Francis of Assisi and how he dedicated it to caring for animals.  Together, we create a list of ways we could help to care for and protect animals.

    During our reflection time, we considered this thought;

Animals make our world a more beautiful and happier place. They give us enjoyment, they help and protect us and sometimes they are our special friend. We must always be kind to them and treat them well.

    Dear God,
Let us be kind and gentle to our animal friends.
Help us to look after them properly.
Give us patience and understanding when they get old.
Let us be thankful for all the fun that we have with them,
And all the love that they give to us.
    Amen.

  • Inline Skating

Wed 24 May 2023 Mrs Connelly

The excitement then ‘ramped up’ further on Wednesday when our playground was transformed into an in-line skating track for Year 5 and Year 6. Wow what an amazing day! BMX Academy guided the children through the skills needed to be able to build their confidence. Throughout the morning the children showed us their perseverance and determination and were reminded we don’t have ‘can’t’ attitudes…we went on to ‘can’t yet’ to ‘can’ by the end of the day. We were then treated to a whole school performance by the professionals showing off their skating tricks in the sunshine!

  • Bee Keeper visit

Mon 22 May 2023 Mrs Watson

Following World Bee Day Cassatt class are learning about bees this week. We started our week with a fantastic visit from James from the Fleet and District Beekeepers’ Association. He showed us his Bee Suit and brought along a colony of bees in an observational hive for us to look at…we enjoyed spotting the queen bee and seeing the bees busy at work. We learnt lots of facts and later enjoyed trying some honey!

  • Outdoor Learning

    Fri 19 May 2023

Gauguin made the most of the warm weather this week.  They were using the iPads to research environmental dangers as part of their geography learning.  Once the research was done and the notes were made they used their new understanding to complete a diamond nine to organise their thoughts on the most disruptive environmental dangers.

The outdoor classroom was perfect for a hard surface to write on as well as shade for those that found outside a little warm.

  • FOCKSA School Discos

    Thu 18 May 2023

The lights were bright, the music was loud and the children were excited. Both the EYFS/KS1 disco and the KS2 disco were a huge success.  Thank you so much to FOCKSA for organising.

  • Cassatt and Da Vinci annual Buddy Bluebell Walk

    Thu 18 May 2023

It is that time of year when Cassatt and Da Vinci buddies spend some time exploring Bluebell Woods.  Although the bluebells are beginning to fade the relationships between the buddies is flourishing and it was a joy to see.

It was a beautiful morning making memories.

  • Coronation Art Gallery

    Fri 05 May 2023

As part of our work linked to the Coronation each class got creative. Most of the work produced by the children was displayed in a gallery on Friday afternoon so those attending the Tea Party could visit and admire the children’s work.

  • Our Coronation Tea Party and tree planting

    Fri 05 May 2023

Thank you to those who were able to join us today for this historic occasion, an incredible turn out. The children and staff have all entered into to the British spirit and sported their red, white and blue with pride. We have seen some superb crowns and tiaras, capes and even a Corgi amongst the children’s outfits! So, the sun shone brightly for us this afternoon and we have spent time as our large Charles Kingsley family, doing what we do best. Coming together, making memories and EATING CAKE! Listening to the community singing together the National Anthem, will be a memory that we hold close to our hearts for years to come. Seeing those children and families who joined us to plant the commemorative tree in the gardens, singing together the words of the School Prayer, was the icing on our afternoon’s cake. Thank you to FOCKSA, for funding and sourcing the Coronation badges which we hope the children will hold dear as a little keepsake to mark the occasion. Thank you also to FOCKSA for their donation of the commemorative Small Leaved Lime tree and plaque which we will look after and watch grow from our gardens. King Charles himself planted this beautiful long-lived tree which is much prized for its sweet scent. The Small Leaved Lime tree is said to attract birds, bees and insects.

  • Cassatt’s Trip to Bucklebury Farm

Wed 03 May 2023 Mrs Watson

Cassatt class spend a special day at Bucklebury Farm in the sunshine. We got up close to some of the deer and fed them special food, our favourite was Frankie who had huge antlers! We enjoyed a tour of the farm and met many different animals who live there including pigs, goats, alpacas, Guinea pigs, rabbits and donkeys. We enjoyed finding out lots of facts about the animals and what makes each of them special. We loved playing in the adventure playground and on the bouncing pillow!
Throughout the day the class displayed all their RESPECT values thinking carefully about the animals and the environment around us.
