  • Skipping Workshop

    Fri 10 Mar 2023

We had the best day skipping.  Every class had a skipping workshop learning new skills.  Some learnt the skills for skipping individually, some in pairs and other group skipping with the rhymes.  The lunchtime supervisors also joined in to help the children develop their skills in the skipping zone at lunchtime. We now have a class set of skipping ropes.

Thank you to Mrs Jary for organising, there was a real buzz around school.

  • Mother Tongue Day

    Thu 09 Mar 2023

As part of Mother Tongue Day some of the children who speak a different language to English at home shared some of their language and culture with the different classes.  The children were so proud to share and their classmates loved seeing this different side of their friends.

Thank you to Miss Church for organising.

  • FOCKSA Movie Night

    Thu 09 Mar 2023

Another successful movie night - The Bad Boys.  A great film that all the children enjoyed, the hotdog, drink and cookies were an additional treat.

A huge thank you to the FOCKSA committee members for organising and the additional volunteers.  Also a thank you to staff for staying to ensure everyone was dismissed safely.

FOCKSA hoped that you liked the new booking system and that it made things easier - they have already started to think of ways it can be improved.

  • Almost a snow day!

    Wed 08 Mar 2023

Well it was the closest thing to a snow day we have had this year. There wasn't a huge amount of snow but there was enough for some snowmen - I wonder if any will survive until the morning.  There was lots of smiles and team work as balls of snow were rolled, sticks found and even a carrot or two appeared from somewhere.

Luckily the radiators were lovely and warm to dry gloves and hats and the odd pair of trousers and of course all the children.

We hope everyone had save journeys wherever they had to go today.

  • Year 2 trip to The Sea City Museum

Tue 07 Mar 2023 Miss Kent

Year 2 went to the SeaCity Museum as part of their new History unit “Titanic: tragedy or Triumph?” They had a busy day exploring the museum, driving the ship, loading the engines with coal, sending messages with morse code, hearing eye witness accounts and looking at real artefacts rescued from the ship! They then had a great workshop led by Andy from the museum where we decided who deserved to be on a lifeboat, we explored how many water tight compartments needed to be flooded to sink, looked at more artefacts and matched smells and pictures to different parts of the boats. What a great, busy day!

    Did you know…?
The 4th chimney was added to the boat to make it look better. It wasn’t connected to the boiler room! It also helped save many people as it had a ladder connected from the bottom sections of the boats to the top deck.

  • Open The Book Worship

    Tue 07 Mar 2023

The Bible Story today was a parable that Jesus told about friendship and knowing that you can always ask a friend for help just like you can always ask God for help.

Thank you as always to the Open the Book team and their hard work bringing Bible stories to life.

  • Year 3 Trip to Butser Ancient Farm

Mon 06 Mar 2023 Miss Church

Year 3 Picasso Class had a memorable day at Butser Ancient Farm. We have spent the day carving chalk to decorate our Bronze Age homes, visiting all the different prehistoric houses, creating sturdy Iron Age fences using wattling and digging up lots of ancient treasures. Miss Church would like to say a big thank you to the wonderful staff at Butser Farm, kind parents who came to help us and the wonderful Mrs Sibley.

  • FOCKSA Second Hand Book Sale

    Fri 03 Mar 2023

Thank goodness for a dry day for the FOCKSA Second Hand Book Stall so that it could be outside on the playground and accessible to all as they picked up their children.

Thank you to FOCKSA Committee members for collecting, sorting and organising the sale.

We managed to raise £69 at the second hand book sale (this might increase after using ziffit on the remaining books). We also raised £70 on World Book Day costumes.

There is a FOCKSA Committee meeting on Wednesday 8th March @The Frog and Wicket at 8pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

  • Living God and reflecting Global Faith Worship - cryptocurrency

    Fri 03 Mar 2023

Our worship this afternoon was linked  to the question -

'Will the world become cashless in the future?'

It was clear from the beginning of worship the children has seen items being paid for in many different ways - cash, card. phone. watch.

But what did cashless mean, is it a possibility and how do we feel about it?  Mrs Jary with the help of Newsround explained what cryptocurrency was and some of the positive and negative things about it.  The children and staff discussed their feelings - sad, worried and confused were the main ones with the children worried particularly the impact on the environment.

We ending worship with a reflection and this prayer

    Dear God

Thank you for the things we own,

Help us understand that kindness and generosity can bring happiness,

Which can make us feel rich and is true measure of wealth,

    Amen
