Promoting Fundamental British Values.
In November 2014, the Government published guidance on promoting British Values in schools. These values were developed to make sure that all young people in Britain leave school as valuable, fully rounded members of society. All schools have a responsibility to promote these British values; embedding them into the ethos and the whole school curriculum.
The Key Values are:
• democracy
• rule of law
• individual liberty
• mutual respect
• tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
At Charles Kingsley’s CE Primary School, we believe that these values are reflected in our values model and are an integral part of our school ethos. The teaching of these values is shared through our daily collective worship. Whether in school or in the church building, children experience Christian worship resourced from the breadth of the Anglican tradition and other mainstream British denominations. Throughout our RE curriculum, we promote Christian values and also educate our pupils about the faiths and beliefs of people from different countries, religions, and secular groups. We believe that our Christian identity plays an important role in upholding British Values within our school community
