Vacancy for Administrative Assistant


Closing Date: Monday 4th July 2022, Interviews Thursday 7th July 2022

Contract/Hours: Permanent Part Time

Salary Type: EHCC/Support Staff

Salary Details: Grade B (step subject to experience)

Hours of Work: 19.5hrs/week to be worked Monday and Tuesday 8.30am -4.30pm and Wednesday 8.30am – 1pm with 30mins for lunch, 40 weeks a year (term time plus one week)

The Governing Body of Charles Kingsley’s CE Primary School are looking to appoint a new member of staff to join our front of school office team. This will be a job share with our current Administrative Assistant.  


As with all school offices it is busy, and no day is the same! We require someone that can be dynamic, quick thinking, compassionate and to have a god sense of humour.


As the first point of call for visitors and enquiries made to school, you will need to be cheerful, enthusiastic, positive and have the capacity to communicate effectively with staff, parents and children.  You will need to have an eye for detail and hold high standards of yourself.


The main duties will include:

  • Dealing with in person, email and telephone queries
  • Daily administration including recording and reporting attendance, collection of payments
  • Responsibility for managing the schools MIS System - ARBOR  
  • Responsibility for the Pupil Admissions Process to the school
  • Responsibility for parent correspondence
  • Any other duties as they arise

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be committed to and enjoy working as part of a team
  • Have excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Have good knowledge of administrative procedures and IT systems. An understanding of ARBOR and Scopay would be an advantage, but training would be provided by the school
  • Have a friendly, caring disposition; showing a genuine interest in education of young children and being empathetic to individual needs.
  • Have a good understanding of First Aid requirements : training will be provided
  • Be able to keep calm and positive in a busy office!
